Delta Variant – Although we were beginning to see a decline in the number of COVID-19 cases, the number of people hospitalized with the virus has nearly quadrupled since last month. In fact, due to the highly infectious Delta variant, over the last several weeks, Los Angeles County has experienced a sharp increase in the number of daily cases, hospitalizations, and positive test results.

Delta Variant

What is the Delta Variant?

The Delta variant, also known as the B.1.617.2, is a new strain of COVID-19 considered to be 50% more contagious than the original Corona Virus first identified in 2019. Health experts are estimating that the average person infected with the Delta variant will spread the virus to three to four other people. To top it off, studies are suggesting that the Delta variant may be able to escape protection from vaccines and COVID-19 treatments.

What is American Forklift Training Centers, INC. doing to protect students?

While COVID-19’s Delta variant is on the rise, so are job opportunities. As mentioned in our previous blog – Job Opportunities on the Rise, But Companies Struggling to Fill Positions – companies are hiring at accelerating speed – particularly in sectors like manufacturing and construction.

Given the great opportunities available for Forklift operators and the fact that we have partnered with over 200 employment agencies to get you hired, we strive to offer above par forklift training and certification to help you achieve a happier and more successful future.

With forklift training, however, hands-on forklift training is key for optimal learning. Although online forklift training may offer the convenience of taking a forklift class at home, it doesn’t offer you the opportunity to actually get behind the wheel and apply the necessary skills to operate such a 9,000 lb machine.

That said, one may have concerns about spreading the virus with in-person, hands-on forklift training.  Well, rest assure, American Forklift Training Centers, INC. remains firmly committed to the health and safety of our students, community, partners, and team.

We have taken great precautions to enhance our cleaning measures and contain the virus, including:

  1. Closely monitoring the changing situation and complying with public health guidance.
  2. Disinfecting all teaching tools, furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  3. Requiring all employees to wear masks (students also have the option to wear masks if they choose to).
  4. For those students wishing to be socially distanced while forklift training, we are accommodating to their needs as greatly as possible.
  5. Classrooms are also being kept at below 69 degrees.

As mentioned prior, our students’ education, success, happiness, comfort, and wellbeing is our main priority. Given the Delta variant, COVID-19 cases may be on the rise, however, so are job opportunities – particularly for those properly trained and certified in forklift operations. Therefore, we are continuing to take extra measures to protect your health and prevent the spread of COVID. If you have any questions regarding forklift training, certifications, and our part in protecting your health, please do not hesitate to contact us today. (323) 620-7000
